In no country the majority community denied equal rights as in India! BJP or Congress or others, Discrimination and Disparity continues
“There are as many as 2,07,000 temples in Karnataka and the total income of these temples amounts to Rs 72 crore. Only a sum of Rs. 6 crore is being spent by the Government for their upkeep. On the other hand, the Government spent a phenomenal amount of Rs.50 crore for the madrasas and Rs.10 crore for the churches.”
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said in 2003.
That was when S. M. Krishna of Congress was in Power. In the last 13 years, temple income has doubled, expenditure to upkeep temples remained the same, while the amount spent towards madrasas and Churches has been doubled. Since 2003, Janta Dal, and BJP was in power and last 4 years it is Congress ruling again, but the situation only worsened.
- 5,000 Temples in Karnataka to be closed down due to lack of funding and maintenance
- During Kumbh Mela in Nasik each Hindu was forced to pay Rs.25 to Rs.50 for a dip in the holy water. Congress, BJP and Shiv Sena said nothing about this (while giving money to Muslims and Christians).
- Today, if a Hindu or Sikh wishes to visit holy places in Kailash Mansarovar or Gurudwara in Pakistan, leave alone subsidiary, they are forced to shell out large amount of money to visit their holy places (while Islam enjoys massive 70% share of Hindus hard earned money to visit Haj in Saudi Arabia)
It is not merely the money that the Government stealing from the Hindu is the problem or misusing the stolen funds, the problem is beyond that. Let’s understand the difference between Sanatana Dharma Temples and others.
According to Dr. Subramanian Swamy, as he explains very clearly in the video below, Temples are places where our gods live and temples are religious places and it is not just place of worship. Every temple has a rich story to tell and centuries back temples are meant as places to learn vedas and history of Hindu religion but with low maintenance now temples are seen by government as an income source. To please other religion people and for political benefits governments have been spending so much money on the so called minority institutions and treating the source of that income, the temples very cheaply. It is heartening to see a temple as a commercial place knowing the thousands of years of history Hindu Dharma has. Temples are meant for religious learning, given proper maintenance they can become very powerful source of learning. Hindu dharma has lost its sheen in the last 70years because of the political intentions of the various governments. We got freedom in 1947, one of our constitutional rights is Right to Religion but looks like it’s meant for all religions except for Hindus and it is sad that it’s in a once complete Hindu country. Hindus have never had institutional freedom post 1947. Where are we heading with this? Why should government control Hindu temples while churches and madrassas are not? Why is government not spending money on Hindu religion improvement while gaining all that money from Hindu temples? It is only to fair to ask Government to leave the control on Hindu temples to Hindu community so the income is wisely spent on Hindu religion awareness and on poor Hindu who need some financial help. Apart from money, Temples have so much land and gold on which government has control.
When the temples are completely under control of Hindus, temple and it earning can be used, to educate poor Hindus, Teach people o Sanatana Dharma, Bhagavat Gita, conducting various religious festivities and much more.
Article 30 of the Constitution permits minorities to establish and run their own educational institutions. The basic objective behind these special rights was to enable the minority to protect its religion and culture. A survey of Jesuit run schools in the country would show that the majority of students are invariably Hindu in which case how is Christian culture being protected. How do Christian schools in Muslim majority Kashmir Valley protect Christian religion? This provision has allowed the Church to create a web of educational institutions across the country and wield influence far in excess of the 2.5% Christian population in India.
Most Temples in India, are under control of the Government, all the money which was earned by the temple, is not been spent on the temple. Only 5% goes to temples and rest god knows where, the money is spent on something else. What is happening in our country? Why can’t the people have right to manage their own temples? Why Should Government take control of the Hindu temples and temple Money and not that of other Religious Institutions? We need to change this. We have to take certain steps to avoid all this. Hindus need to take their temples back in the control of community.
Where is the money going?
Indians are unfairly targeted by a combination of vote bank politics and corrupt politicians and businessmen. The Hindu American Foundation believes that the right way for the BJP government to avoid controversies arising from social issues is to articulate a clear social agenda. Only Hindu temple money does not go to temples for development but goes to the state governments. Some time ago Gurdwaras had been assumed control by the degenerate Mahants, and the group battled a long and hard fight to take them back. Sikh constrained the organization to pass a law so that the administration of Gurdwaras is constantly vested in the Sikh people group and not with the persons in control of the Gurdwaras whenever. That law is “The Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1925”. That law has worked exceptionally well, and has stood the test of time. It has satisfied the Sikh desire of being in control of their Gurdwaras and overseeing them as per group’s desires, utilizing the administration best practices. This one is the best case of how to deal with the religious spots.
Hindu temples are not the sacred places they should be, because, the Hindu temples are not under the control of Hindu community. Hindu Temple’s income, the offerings by the devotees at the temples, either goes into government treasury and become government revenue, or is retained by the priests in control of the temple. In both the cases, community has no say as to how the temple money, which is the property of the Hindu community, is to be spent. They have their different policies.
Having “nationalized” temples, governments in a few states run undeniable services for their organization. For instance, the Andhra Pradesh government runs 33,000 temples and gifts with a staff of 77,000 representatives to ‘guarantee the correct execution of pujas.’ The numbers in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala are similarly amazing. Numerous north Indian states have likewise settled comparable services. One of the immense incongruities of Indian secularism is that a vocally non-religious government sees no disagreement in overseeing Hindu sanctuaries, and just Hindu temples. Indian Constitution giving individuals of all religions with the flexibility to deal with their religious organizations. A few state-level Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) Acts have permitted states to expect money related and administration control of over a hundred thousand Hindu sanctuaries, including grand antiquated sanctuaries of enormous religious importance.
Such systematized oppression an apparent 80% dominant part group is without parallel anyplace on the planet. Some Hindu sampradayas, for example, the Ramakrishna Math and Mission have even attempted to claim “minority” status and acquire assurance from government impedance. The common result of government administration of sanctuaries, other than the undeniable infringement of mainstream standards, are momentous debasement and abuse of assets, and also, in various cases, the disregard of sanctuaries that outskirts on the criminal. Case In the 1980s, the then Kerala boss priest K Karunakaran requested the Guruvayur Temple to store Rs 10 crore with the state treasury to counterbalance an administration deficiency. Whether this cash was ever returned or not is dubious. What’s more, the sanctuary’s property possessions were pulverized from 13000 sections of land to 230 sections of land by the Land Reforms Act which helpfully avoided non-Hindu foundations. The Maharashtra government admit to the Bombay High Court in 2004 that US$190,000 from Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak sanctuary were being avoid to a philanthropy keep running by a lawmaker, Minister for Welfare, Rehabilitation and Textiles, Vilasrao Patil Undalkar. In Tamil Nadu, the HR and CE Department controls more than 4.7 lakh sections of land of horticultural area, 2.6 crore square feet of structures and 29 crore square feet of urban place that is known for sanctuaries. By any sensible measure, the salary from these properties ought to be in a huge number of crores of rupees. The administration, nonetheless, gathers an insignificant Rs.36 crore in rent against an “interest” of minor Rs. 304 crore — around 12 for every penny acknowledgment. Politically associated people have shamelessly appropriated sanctuary property for individual use. A companion of mine reviews the time his uncle dealt with a little sanctuary in Tamil Nadu controlled by the HR&CE Department. An authority would arrive month to month to exhaust the sanctuary’s hundi and would have the nerve, right within the sight of the uncle, to just push a part of the money gathered into his own particular pocket.
Discrimination against Hindus
The Hindus are vanishing in India’s Backyard when Pakistan was formed in 1947, Hindus constituted around 15% of the number of inhabitants in Current Pakistan and by 1998 it is around 1.6%. The population has declined by around 90% in around 50 years. This demolition is the result of maintained lawful and social segregation as far back as the formation of Pakistan. On the lawful front, just Muslims are qualified for the position of President or Prime clergyman of Pakistan. The human rights commission in Pakistan reports that 20-25 youthful Hindu young ladies are snatched and coercively changed over consistently. Day break puts this number at 1000 consistently for Hindu and Christian ladies. Pakistan has been home to various Hindu sanctuaries of which just 360 stay, with a significantly littler number working; a great many sanctuaries have been crushed subsequent to 1947. One of the holiest destinations of the Hindus, the Hinglaj Mata Mandir has likewise been focused by fanatics. Deprived of any desire for noble survival in Pakistan, Hindus are taking asylum abroad. Pakistan Hindu board assesses that around 5000 Hindus leave for India consistently. Just about 33% of East Pakistan’s which is presently Bangladesh’s populace according to Pakistan’s 1951 evaluation, by 1971, when Bangladesh was resulting from East Pakistan, Hindus were not exactly a fifth of its populace Hindus constitute under 10% of the masses there thirty years after the fact and as meager as 8% today for each dependable assessment. The circumstance is currently so desperate that even Amnesty has observed that the Hindu people group in Bangladesh is at amazing hazard and is being focused on basically for their religion. In 1971 alone 10 million ethnic Bengalis, for the most part Hindus fled to India and 200,000 ladies were assaulted. From 1975 onwards, religious minorities including Hindus have been subjected to biased property laws, limitations on religious flexibility and savagery executed by both state and non-state organizations p. 30. For instance, Hindus are assaulted verging on consistently amid the festival of their most essential celebration, Durga Puja.
Ayodhya, Will a temple be built there ever?
Ayodhya is viewed as Ram’s origin and is blessed to numerous hindu devotees. The debate identified with Ayodhya’s Ram mandir has been lying for quite a long time. The Ayodhya question is a political, authentic and socio-religious civil argument in India, fixated on a plot of area in the city of Ayodhya. The fundamental issues spin around access to a site generally respected among Hindus to be the origin of the Hindu god Rama, the history and area of the Babri Mosque at the site, and whether a past Hindu temple was wrecked or adjusted to make the mosque. The Ayodhya wrangle about focuses on the area referred to today as Ram Janmabhoomi, on which the Babri Mosque was implicit 1528. In Hindu mythology, Ayodhya is the origin of the god-lord Rama, the child of Dasharatha, the leader of Ayodhya, and his ruler Kausalya. He is worshiped by numerous Hindus as an Avatar, or incarnation, of Vishnu. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pioneer Subramanian Swamy has radiated certainty that a Ram Mandir will be built in Ayodhya Soon. Swamy said it has as of now been demonstrated that Babri Masjid was developed after decimation of a sanctuary, so ‘Ram Mandir’ ought to be worked at the debated site in Ayodhya. The BJP pioneer trusted the last decision by the Supreme Court will make ready for development of a Ram sanctuary at the questioned site in Ayodhya. The BJP pioneer had hailed previous head administrator Rajiv Gandhi for his “respectable endeavors” to determine the Ayodhya question and said the Congress pioneer would have assembled a Ram Mandir if he were the Prime Minister for next term.
With all being said and done, Government should realize that Hindus are being discriminated in their own country in the shadow of secularism. Indian temples earn so much money and other gifts. It’s only wise to ask the money being spent on improving Hindu organizations in India and on the very temples the money is earned from. The policies on the temple income haven’t changed much even when the governments changed. Many opine that government should let the temples be run by the Hindu communities. So, the money will be wisely spent on where it should be spent. Mostly on the betterment of the Hindu community. A very talented and Hindu activist Subramanian swamy urged government so many times about that and yet nothing changed.
Now all the hope and prayers on 13th July when Supreme court takes up the case. Till then we Hindus shall Pray for Justice & Freedom.
